Contest Guidelines and Rules

Send us an photograph you took that expresses something that Democracy means to you. Do not digitally enhance or otherwise modify your picture. Do not include any image of copyrighted material. If the setting is not a public place, be sure to get the consent of anyone who appears in your picture. Include a title and a brief statement of the photograph's meaning.

Three prizes will be awarded, with the winners chosen by popular vote:

     1st PLACE: $100

     2nd PLACE: $75

     3rd PLACE: $50

NOTE: Prize money will be provided by direct, targeted contributions from members of the event committee. Your donations to the WimDems will NOT be used for prize money.

  • All entries must be received by 5pm on Friday, June 26th.
  • Voting will open on the WimDems website on Monday, June 29th and will close at midnight on July 4th.
  • Winners will be announced on July 6th.

Parade Video Guidelines

Video clips should be no longer than 15 seconds. Hold a sign, go down your driveway on the vehicle of your choice – be as creative as you wish, but please keep it respectful. Do not include any image of copyrighted material, and be sure to get the consent of anyone who appears in your video. Please submit your video clips by 5pm on Friday, June 12th.


How to Submit Your Photo or Video

Send your file as an attachment to an email to [email protected]. Send one attachment per email. Tell us your first and last names. If you are uploading a photo for the contest, include a title and brief explanation of how your photo exemplifies the theme. Whether it is a photo or a video, please copy and paste the following text into your email:

  • I took, or had someone take, the attached photograph or video. If this picture was not taken in a public place, I have the consent of any person who appears in it. It does not contain any copyrighted content that I do not own. By submitting this photograph or video to the Wimberley Democrats, I give the Wimberley Democrats permission to display it in its social media and use it in other forms of publicity. This permission to use this photograph or video is for use only and does not grant any ownership rights to the Wimberley Democrats.

If your mail program says that the attachment is too big, email us at [email protected] and we’ll help you find a way to upload it. Alternatively, if your file has already been uploaded to a social media or photo sharing site that we can access, share it with [email protected] and send us instructions.
